Let me start with, this center was highly recommended by COMPASSUS Hospice. In their marketer's words..."I would put my own relative here."
The first 48 hours my parent was there, they were happy and felt such comfort with the staff they interacted with, however, within 72 hours I received a phone call from my mother sobbing about how one aide treated her and spoke to her. I rushed over there and after talks with the director of nursing and administrator, they decided to move my parent to another wing. The issues worsened. The bigger issue is--the aides hired in the last year all have horrible bedside manners. There is a very high turnover amongst them. While staying there with my parent, I was witness to nurses yelling at patients--YES, I said yelling, even one shouting, "I don't care!" She was yelling at one patient who rolled his wheelchair out to her desk asking for his medication since it had passed the time of his regular dose. I was appalled. We met with and spoke almost daily with the administration, director, and nurses; all to no avail. Eventually, my mother fell out of her hospital bed for two reasons-- 1. The rails we signed and approved to be placed on her bed were never installed. 2. Whomever placed her wheelchair next to her bed, did not lock it and she reached for it and fell off the bed resulting in broken bones and a huge contusion on her head. Needless to say, she went downhill after that incident. My advice to ANYONE who has to place their loved one here--install a webcam and microphone. YES, it can be done with minimal paperwork and it's a must! It is your right to protect your loved one. Second, spend time there if you can and pay attention to everything--especially how other patients are treated. Do they have some stellar nurses and staff? YES! Very few. Be aware. Be vigilant and hold them accountable. These places make thousands of dollars off your loved one and the quality is not there. If I were an administrator or director, I'd be popping in at all hours unannounced to see how staff were treating patients. I'd do inspections myself unannounced as well. My mothers bathroom had dried feces for 2 days and when I asked the nurse if she could have the custodian clean it, she looked at it and said I could get a wipe and clean it. Yes...this is the kind to staff they employ.

Check-in was a breeze. The staff was friendly and assured me that they would take good care of my loved one. The nurse came and introduced herself and the aid was listening as I gave her some specifics on how to care for my loved one. I appreciate their attentiveness and caring demeanor. There is plenty of staff on the floor and the security features are great. I had a great first impression.

My mom and I went to Sonterra Health Center to visit my aunt this evening and we loved this place!! They had a Trunk-or-Treat going on in the parking lot, the staff was very kind, and I liked how secure the place was as well. They have a schedule in each patients room with the daily activities listed, which we're hoping my aunt takes advantage of and plays some Bingo while she's there. The family feels that this rehab facility will be useful to my aunt so she can gain some strength back before she comes home.

I'm a hospice social worker and stopped by today to visit 2 of my patients here on their 5d Respite stays. Both appeared well cared for, comfortable, and clean. Facility and rooms looked and smelled fresh and clean. Staff at front desk as well as nurses were helpful and kind. Keep up the amazing work! I will definitely refer more patients in the future.

I give this review because I feel like communication could be better. I like to know what is going on when I’m not there. But it seems like no matter how many times I ask to be in the loop, I am not. And sometimes it is hard to know if what my mom says is real.
I do want to shout out to Denise and
Elizabeth. These to I know I can count on and trust with my mom 100% of the time. They are always so caring and get things done!! Jackie is awesome too!!!

I visited my friend, Jessie Washington, who was being changed. She was in a lot of pain since she has a Foley . The aid was very nice, caring, and did everything she could to keep her calm. Her nurse, Jasmine was also there and asked if she needed pain medication. She was also a very patient, caring
Nurse. Very clean facility and very nice personnel. Jessie has been there quite some time due to Lupus and other illnesses. I have seen nothing but caring and nice personnel.

Very pleased how my husband is being taken care of. He is a disabled veteran who loves to stay busy when his health permits. The staff plays close attention to meds, feeding, cleanliness. and doctors appts. The staff goes above and beyond to try to please him. I am so thankful.

My husband is at Sonterra Health Center for a short stay (Respite Care). I went to go check on him this afternoon, and saw that he was being well taken care of so far today. The employee name Angelica was very attentive and shared that she helped him with eating his lunch. I am not sure if Angelica is a nurse or aide there, but she left me with a great impression that they will take great care of my husband while he is there! Thank you Angelica!
