I can’t express how amazing the staff is at Vanderbilt medical. I have gone through life changing operations through them. I would want to be no where else besides here. The team of doctors, the nurses, the nurse assistants, the nutrition team, all the way down to the janitors team have been 5 stars plus. They have restored my beautiful energy and made me the happiest beautiful woman I am. Much love to everyone and their kind energy at Vanderbilt hospital. Highly recommend going out of your way to be treated by them if you need treatment. Thanks so much Vanderbilt staff. Y’all are absolutely amazing ?

The staff treated my Dad with kindness and they were very professional. His nurses for the most part were wonderful to him. They made us sign a power of attorney form so they could speak to us when my father was undergoing procedures, then they couldn’t find it. So they did not call us or update us the way they said they would. I talked to them and had us added to his call list, but they still did not communicate with us, or call us when things changed. I spoke to the case manager once, and they basically told me he would be transferred to a rehab facility, then a week later, since Medicare wouldn’t pay, they told us to drive him ourselves 3 hours away, and he couldn’t walk, so we had to bring a urinal in the car so he wouldn’t have accidents. I attempted to get a hold of his case manager several times, and even called their private line and left messages, and they never called me back. I had to find out what facility he was going to from another family member, not the hospital staff since they did not communicate this, I called the administrator of the rehab facility and thank God they agreed to come out to our car to help him into the rehab facility. We were very unsatisfied with the communication with family and power of attorney, as well as case management and discharge planning. Make sure you have your family member’s transportation set up ahead of time and that you are there to advocate for them or the hospital will just send them where ever they want, and then not answer your calls unless you are there and present with your family member in the hospital physically. Do not try to manage anything with these people over the phone. Extremely unprofessional.

Being treated for hep C and liver disease. Dr. Roman Perri and his staff at vandy have been absolutely amazing. Words can't describe what they have done for me. As a recovering heroin addict, I've gotten used to being talked down to... or treated less than. Yet, the Vanderbilt staff not only treated me with respect, they were genuinely concerned about my health and well being. Just wanted to say thanks. I'll live longer because they cared... that simple.

My mom was in desperate need of a lung transplant and told them at her appointment that she was interested in getting one, but had some questions. It took them five months to call her to start the testing. During that time my mom and dad were calling and telling them that they wanted to move forward. They forgot to have my mom and dad sign that my dad could call and ask info about her, so they wouldn't even speak to my dad. During those five months, my mom's health drastically declined. They had my mom go through two weeks of grueling tests to determine if they would accept her. She did a six minute walk test twice even though she couldn't breathe. She gave it her all! After all of that, they rejected her. The transplant surgeon (not the director) was a complete jerk and even made my dying mother cry. She had severe PTSD from this experience and had nightmares until she died. When we told Vanderbilt this, they said that was "normal." After she died we called them and wanted to discuss our experience and were told that they would get back with us. They never did. Then, they mailed us pictures of people who had survived and asked us for donations. I will say, the One Hundred Oaks employees were great. One doctor even skipped lunch to see my mom. Her physical therapist, nutritionist, allergist, nurses, and cafeteria workers were always kind. My one star review is not directed at them. I hate that my mom's end of life experience was so traumatic and miserable. I hope in the future you will treat your lung transplant patients and their families with more sensitivity and kindness than was shown to us.

Quality of care is good - scheduling is good. People are friendly. BUT, you will get CHARGED as much billing as they can possibly code for a visit, and they are not interested in re-coding something even when you pose a legitimate complaint. The doctor would not consider talking about it with me. I had to work with billing, Cigna, billing, Vandy patient affairs, the charge nurse of the Hillsboro unit - all to no avail. Have to pay an unjust bill to keep my credit rating secure - I'm done with Vanderbilt.

I had the BEST experience giving birth here! I had a very hard and complicated labor and the Vanderbilt team was there with me every step of the way and tried to make me as comfortable as possible. The lactation specialists were amazing in teaching how to nurse and take care of baby. We were constantly visited by different specialists and doctors during my 4 day hospital stay. I normally don't do a whole lot of reviews but I have to shoutout specific names because they deserve recognition! Katie, Patricia,Whitney, and Justin (in anesthesia) were INCREDIBLE. I was in so much pain and they did everything they could to help. Patricia even got down on her knees and held my hand and assured me everything was going to be ok and found solutions to my labor pain. Whitney was so compassionate and kind - she was an angel! And Katie and Justin were absolutely fabulous as well. The only thing I would note is our induction was delayed by 3 1/2 days so just be aware that if you plan on getting induced it might get delayed.

$41K bill and they didn't actually do a got dang thing to help figure out why I'm sick. I never received my discharge papers nor my final medications. The nurse acted like I was actually staying in her house instead of the hospital on my last day. She kept poking her rude head in the room to ask how much longer my ride would be. Like we all live in the parking garage. Add to that I didn't even have a clear idea of when I'd actually be discharged. This woman was a true credit to the hospital because her attitude was so nasty.
I had such high hopes that such a "prestigious" hospital would have doctors who care. But nope. You'd have better luck at your local witch Dr. Cheaper too.

Last night at OB triage the nurse and midwife on duty were unprofessional and ignorant. They did not look over my fiances chart and when they tried to do blood work without warning my fiance had a mental breakdown and started to cry. They then offered her stronger drugs than Tylenol which is in her chart that she is terrified of needles and doesn't need blood work and that she can't have anything stronger than Tylenol due to previous addiction. The midwife and nurse then proceeded to check her cervix and for water leakage and did not dry her or give her anything to dry herself after. The midwife also proceeded to be a b and gave AMA forms after not checking her swelling or reading her chart
